Anastasia doesn’t disappoint with her eyeshadow palettes, and her latest Modern Renaissance palette, at no surprise, is amazing. The colors are much different than you will find in other high-end palettes, so it’s a very unique palette for your collection.
This 14-pan eyeshadow palette is filled with warm shades – a selection of neutrals and browns with a pop of reds and oranges. This palette is perfect for the fall season, but the shades blend well for any time of year.
The formula: I’ve tried many of Anastasia’s palettes and this one is a little bit different – in a great way. The product is much smoother and a little more buttery than her other palettes. For example, in the Self Made Palette, I found that the glittery/metallic shades did not hold together as well. In the Modern Renaissance, the shimmer shades are extremely smooth and stick on your eyelid without needing a primer.
Like all of her palettes, this one comes with a double-ended brush. The outside of the palette is suede and the inside includes a mirror.

Modern Renaissance Dupe
If you’re looking for a Modern Renaissance dupe, they’re hard to come by. The closest match I’ve seen is the Morphe 35F palette. Even though the color payoff is a little bit different, the Morphe colors will build up to be very similar to what you get in Modern Renaissance. The major difference I notice in the two palettes is that the Morphe 35F has some shimmer shades (like the cranberry colors) whereas Modern Renaissance has more of a matte variety.
Is the Modern Renaissance Palette Worth the Cost?
100% YES! It retails for $42, but it’s a highly-pigmented palette with great colors. Plus, the colors you see in the pans are exactly the colors you will see when you use them on your eyes.
Extra tip: If you use a taupe or very dark brown brow powder, the taupe color and chocolate brown in this palette (#13 and #7) are great for brows, too.
